CEL to present at CONNECTIONS: The Premier Connected Home Conference

Release No. CEL149

Santa Clara, California
— May 14, 2015 —  CEL (California Eastern Laboratories) announced today that Tim Harrington, GM Products Group, will participate as a speaker at CONNECTIONS™: The Premier Connected Home Conference , May 19-21, in San Francisco. Tim will participate in the session 'Standards and Interoperability: Creating Competition through Cooperation' on Thursday, May 21st at 11:15am PDT.

The interactive panel session, moderated by Tom Kerber (Director, Research, Home Controls & Energy, Parks Associates) examines ways to ensure interoperability between devices, and analyzes the solutions needed to satisfy all players within the connected home space - including the consumer.  Interoperability is beginning to reach the forefront on consumers' minds; Parks Associates research shows that over 50% of all smart home device owners consider interoperability to be very important when considering the adoption of connected home systems.

This session is extremely pertinent in light of the recent ecosystem developments gaining traction within the connected home, where ZigBee®, Thread, Bluetooth® Smart, Z-Wave® and WiFi® all compete for dominance. Tim will address the uncertainties associated with betting on one technology over another, and how CEL is enabling device manufacturers to keep their options open while the various technology choices stabilize.

Parks Associates will host the 19th-annual CONNECTIONS™: The Premier Connected Home Conference, May 19-21, at the Omni Hotel in San Francisco, CA. The event brings together industry leaders in the connected entertainment and digital home technology industries to critical issues pertaining to the converging entertainment, media, smart home, and service markets for consumers.
